Red Sea Global and Hyundai Motor Group Partner to Advance Eco-Friendly Mobility Solutions in Saudi Arabia

Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind the regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, has announced a strategic partnership with Hyundai Motor Group. This collaboration aims to introduce eco-friendly mobility solutions to RSG’s luxury resorts in Saudi Arabia and explore cutting-edge future mobility technologies.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on March 24 at Red Sea Global Headquarters in Riyadh. The signing ceremony was attended by John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, and Dongkun Lee, Head of the Future Growth Strategy Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Group.

John Pagano expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Hyundai Motor Company is a global leader in sustainable and luxury mobility. By integrating their advanced technology and eco-friendly solutions into our destinations, we have the chance to set new standards in carbon-neutral operations and exceed our guests’ expectations for style, comfort, and environmental stewardship.”

Partnership Focus: Immediate and Long-Term Goals

The MoU outlines both short-term and long-term goals for the partnership. Initially, RSG and Hyundai Motor Group will focus on validating and deploying eco-friendly mobility solutions, including battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Over the mid to long term, the collaboration will explore innovative mobility solutions such as autonomous vehicles, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), and eco-friendly maritime vessels.

Dongkun Lee emphasized the significance of the partnership, saying, “This collaboration underscores our mutual dedication to a sustainable and forward-thinking mobility future. We aim to accelerate the validation process and pursue long-term objectives to create a greener and smarter ecosystem in the region.”

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030

Hyundai Motor Group’s extensive eco-friendly business portfolio, which includes individual mobility solutions and comprehensive charging infrastructure, offers numerous opportunities for collaboration. This partnership is anticipated to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, aimed at achieving a net-zero emission society by 2060 and accelerating the country’s transition to a green economy.

Updates on The Red Sea and AMAALA Destinations

The Red Sea destination welcomed its first guests last year, with the Red Sea International Airport now operating a regular schedule of domestic flights, and international flights set to begin soon. Two of the destination’s hotels are open, with three more expected to open this year.

AMAALA is on track to welcome its first guests in 2025, with the completion of the initial resorts in the Triple Bay phase one, including Corallium and the iconic Yacht Club. Additionally, Thuwal Private Retreat, a second destination, is also set to open this year.

This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing sustainability and innovation in Saudi Arabia’s luxury tourism sector.
