Bahrain – A new decision has been made to abolish infrastructure recovery fees associated with building permits and to introduce financing solutions for infrastructure development in newly designated areas, announced Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi.

This move aligns with the directive of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The decision, formally known as Decision (788) of 2024, amends the executive regulations of Law Draft (3) of 1994, which governs land subdivision. It clarifies permitted subdivision areas and ensures these subdivisions are supported by essential infrastructure.

Minister Al Romaihi reaffirmed Bahrain’s dedication to advancing urban planning under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad, with ongoing support from HRH Prince Salman. She emphasized that this decision underscores the government’s focus on infrastructure as a critical element of comprehensive development and a means to attract new investments to Bahrain.

Additionally, Al Romaihi highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in driving economic and urban growth. She acknowledged the significant role of Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, in overseeing the implementation of this directive.

The new decision is anticipated to stimulate real estate transactions, boost urban and economic development, and encourage further investment and real estate development in the kingdom. The ministry remains committed to achieving the government’s goals by exploring innovative financing solutions for essential infrastructure.
