A consortium comprising Spain’s FCC Construcción and Saudi Arabia’s Nesma & Partners has been awarded a $1.1 billion contract to construct the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium within the Qiddiya megaproject near Riyadh. Overseen by the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the project is set for completion in 2029.

Perched atop the Tuwaiq Mountains, the stadium will feature a futuristic design by Populous, with a retractable roof, pitch, and LED wall, providing a cutting-edge, multifunctional venue. Designed to seat 46,000 spectators, the stadium will be a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to evolving the entertainment and cultural landscape.

The 197,000-square-meter stadium will not only host sports events but also serve as a cultural landmark for the region. With a stunning location, 200 meters above ground, and equipped with real-time data integration, the venue will enhance the spectator experience.

Built with a focus on sustainability, the stadium will adhere to LEED Gold standards and feature advanced climate control technology, ensuring comfort for year-round events. It will also support recycling technology to produce cold air efficiently.

Upon completion, the stadium will serve as the home ground for major Saudi football clubs, Al Hilal and Al Nassr, further solidifying it as a premier hub for sports enthusiasts and a new world of entertainment in Qiddiya City.
