The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has collaborated with SafetyCulture, a global technology firm, to equip frontline workers with the latest federal safety and health standards. A new series of bite-sized refresher training courses is now available on mobile devices, allowing workers to complete them on-site in just 15 minutes.
“Essential safety and health courses are literally being put into the pockets of workers across the country,” stated Mary Goranson, ASSP’s vice president of workforce development. “This user-friendly experience enables employers to offer refresher training while allowing our Society to reach more workers with crucial safety information that can help reduce injuries, illnesses, and fatalities on the job.”
The 27 new courses are aligned with standards set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This mobile training initiative aims to transform traditional compliance training, making it more accessible and interactive, even in remote locations. The courses are free for SafetyCulture account holders.
Topics covered in the educational series include fall protection, machine guarding, heat stress, hazard communication, and respiratory protection, ensuring that workers remain up-to-date on safety and health protocols in the same short time it takes to conduct a toolbox talk. The annual OSHA refresher training is particularly beneficial for workers in high-risk industries, such as construction and manufacturing, where federal regulations significantly contribute to workplace safety.
“OSHA regulations play a key role in safeguarding worker safety and health,” Goranson emphasized. “Organizations must ensure compliance, and workers need to understand their safety responsibilities.”
These new courses are especially beneficial for safety professionals and workers who have received their OSHA DOL Card or who last completed OSHA training more than a year ago. This includes carpenters, electricians, plumbers, welders, masons, and other tradespeople who require an advanced understanding of workplace safety.
“Making training more impactful and accessible is something we are really passionate about,” said Mike Welch, managing director of SafetyCulture Training. “By partnering with ASSP, we are effectively leveraging our mobile technology to deliver high-quality courses that frontline workers need to manage common job-site hazards.”
The new training materials are now available on SafetyCulture’s online platform, allowing organizations to provide refresher training courses directly to their teams’ mobile devices, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
