JELD-WEN is set to enhance fire safety measures by incorporating a new fire safety data pin across all its Certifire doorsets. This innovative pin utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, enabling quick and seamless access to critical fire safety information.
The Role of the Fire Safety Data Pin
The primary function of the fire safety data pin is to provide instant access to accurate and up-to-date information, often referred to as the “golden thread.” This term encompasses all essential maintenance records and data that must remain accessible and current throughout the life of the fire door.
Routine inspections of fire safety doors are crucial, yet traditionally, they have relied on paper-based records that are susceptible to human error, misplacement, or incomplete documentation. The introduction of these data pins aims to eliminate such issues by storing each door’s information on a cloud server, accessible to inspectors with a simple scan.
The data stored on these pins includes identification details, door type, ironmongery specifications, installation information, maintenance logs, inspection dates, and compliance certificates. This system enhances the ability to predict faults, allowing for preventative measures to be taken, and ultimately reducing the incidence of fire door-related accidents.
