Gensler Appoints Carlos Gerhard as Principal and Design Director for KSA, Expanding Presence in Saudi Arabia
Gensler, the world’s largest architecture, design, and planning firm, has announced the appointment of Carlos Gerhard as Principal and Design Director for Gensler KSA. With ambitious expansion plans over the next 18 months, including the rapid growth of the Riyadh office in alignment with the Kingdom’s Saudization program, Gerhard will play a key role in strengthening Gensler’s presence and operations in Saudi Arabia.
Carlos Gerhard brings over 30 years of professional experience and an extensive global portfolio, making him a valuable addition to the Gensler KSA leadership team. Known for his expertise in mixed-use and commercial office developments, his leadership will be pivotal in driving the firm’s projects across the Kingdom, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s evolving architectural landscape.
Before joining Gensler KSA, Gerhard served as Principal and Design Director at Gensler’s Singapore office, where he led a range of high-profile projects. His portfolio includes significant work on Capitasky and Rochester Commons in Singapore, Viettel HQ and Hilton Saigon in Vietnam, and the China Electronic Company HQ in Shenzhen, China, showcasing his ability to lead large-scale developments across diverse markets.
Commenting on his new role, Gerhard said: “One of the key pillars of Saudi Vision 2030 is the creation of ‘a vibrant society,’ and Gensler has been selected to work on numerous projects—both giga-projects and individual developments—that will help realize this vision. Our firm’s borderless approach has allowed me to collaborate with global teams on various KSA projects, and I am excited to continue advancing the business on the ground.”
As Gensler expands its footprint in Saudi Arabia, Gerhard’s leadership will be instrumental in driving forward projects that support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, fostering innovation and creating transformative spaces that contribute to the vibrant future of the region.
