In October 2003, Adel founded Air Arabia, marking the inception of the Middle East and North Africa’s first low-cost carrier (LCC). Under Adel’s visionary leadership, Air Arabia rapidly ascended to become the largest low-cost carrier in the MENA region. It also emerged as the first publicly owned airline in the Arab World and, by market value, the largest of its kind. His extensive experience with leading airlines such as Gulf Air and British Airways informed his approach, allowing him to steer Air Arabia to recognition as one of the most efficiently operated low-cost carriers globally, consistently delivering annual profits.
Adel’s strategic foresight has enabled Air Arabia to thrive and expand its operations, diversifying into new ventures and revenue streams. Today, the Air Arabia Group encompasses a broad portfolio of successful enterprises, providing a range of travel, tourism, and hospitality services worldwide.
In his capacity as Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, Adel also holds key leadership roles as chairman of Sharjah Information Systems Associates, Alpha Aviation Academy, and Cozmo Travel, and serves as a board member of Sharjah Aviation Services. His exceptional contributions to the aviation industry have been widely acknowledged through various awards. He has been honored as ‘Airline CEO of the Year,’ and received the prestigious 2020 Laureate Award for outstanding airline strategy.
