The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) in Kuwait has recently announced the issuance of three significant tenders for the development of infrastructure in South Saad Al-Abdullah. These tenders cover the extensive infrastructure needs for 23,551 residential plots, marking a crucial step forward in one of the country’s key urban development projects. According to informed sources, the South Saad Al-Abdullah project is set to have a total of 12 tenders issued during the current fiscal year, with five already released, including two dedicated to the installation of main power stations. The remaining seven tenders are anticipated to focus on overseeing infrastructure works and constructing additional main power stations. If the project timeline is adhered to, construction orders are expected to commence in 2028, with a projected three-year implementation period.
In a detailed statement, Amina Al-Awadhi, the Deputy Director General for Control and Information Systems Affairs, elaborated on the authority’s recent approvals. She mentioned that the PAHW’s Tender Committee has given the green light to three tenders specifically for the South Saad Al-Abdullah City project. These tenders are focused on establishing, completing, and maintaining essential infrastructure, which includes the development of residential suburbs, the construction of irrigation tank buildings, and the establishment of sub-electricity stations.
The scope of these tendered projects is comprehensive, covering a timeline of 1,080 days. The work will span across all residential areas and four investment suburbs within the city. The infrastructure development for the 23,551 residential plots will include not only the construction of the necessary irrigation tank buildings but also the establishment of 649 sub-electricity stations to ensure a stable and reliable power supply for the city’s suburbs.
Moreover, the project will involve the installation of various essential utility networks, including those for rainwater drainage, sewage, irrigation, treated water, and freshwater systems. A significant portion of the work will also involve road development, with plans to lay down the first and second asphalt layers for all roads within the residential suburbs, ensuring they meet modern standards of durability and safety.
To manage the large scale and complexity of the project, the work has been divided into three distinct packages, each covering different residential and investment suburbs. These packages will be open to public tender, welcoming bids from international contractors, including those from foreign, local, and Gulf companies that specialize in roadworks and infrastructure services. This approach is expected to attract a diverse range of expertise and ensure that the project benefits from the latest in infrastructure development technology and practices.
Overall, the South Saad Al-Abdullah City project represents a significant investment in Kuwait’s urban infrastructure, reflecting the government’s commitment to expanding and modernizing its housing and urban development sector. The successful completion of this project is poised to enhance the quality of life for thousands of residents, offering modern amenities and robust infrastructure in one of the country’s most ambitious housing developments to date.
