Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it has completed 90% of the work on the Rawdat Al Dhakhira Street Development Project, with final touches expected soon, according to local Arabic daily Arrayah.

Rawdat Al Dhakhira Street is strategically located in an area surrounded by numerous residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare facilities, including the Al Meera outlet, Umm Al Seneem Park, Umm Al Seneem petrol station, Umm Al Seneem Primary Health Centre, and Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys.

The project entails the construction of a four-lane, two-way road, complete with a service lane to facilitate access to residences on both sides. Several intersections have been incorporated, and traffic lights have already been installed. Additionally, a fence is being put in place to ensure pedestrians use designated crossings for their safety.

To maintain the street’s aesthetic appeal, basins have been created for planting trees and green spaces. The project also includes connections for irrigation systems, alongside new infrastructure for water, electricity, communications networks, and treated water lines. Sewage and rainwater drainage systems have been installed, along with street furniture, lighting, and interlocking pavement.

The upgraded street is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the area, particularly along Waab Al Bariq, Umm Al Saneem, and Al Karaana streets. Ashghal has emphasized its commitment to using approximately 80% local and locally manufactured materials in its infrastructure projects. This includes the use of locally produced lighting poles, lamps, signboards, sewage and rainwater drainage pipes, asphalt, prefabricated manholes, concrete, and reinforced steel, all in line with Ashghal’s Ta’heel initiative aimed at promoting local manufacturers.
