Several Egyptian cement companies have submitted requests to the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) to renew a decision allowing them to reduce production capacity by 10% for quantities designated for the local market, excluding exports. An official from the ECA confirmed this information to Asharq Business.

The official stated that the ECA is currently evaluating these requests to ensure they comply with the necessary requirements.

This move comes after reports on August 20th indicated that cement prices in Egypt had risen by 20% since August 1st, following a reduction in production by cement producers.
