Nakheel, a key entity under Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded a substantial AED810 million ($220.5 million) contract to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD for marine works on the Palm Jebel Ali project.

As part of the renowned Jan De Nul Group, Jan De Nul Dredging will undertake dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement. These activities are crucial for the development of villas across the project’s fronds, according to a WAM report.

Mobilization for the project has already begun, with Jan De Nul Dredging expected to complete the marine works in just over two years. Notably, the initial eight fronds are anticipated to be ready by the first quarter of 2025, paving the way for the start of villa infrastructure and civil works.

New Public Access Road

In addition to the marine works, Nakheel has recently awarded two major infrastructure contracts for the construction of a new public access road connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Palm Jebel Ali. This will include roadway and lighting enhancements, improving access from the mainland to the development.

Unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali is set to offer an unparalleled luxury lifestyle, featuring a broad range of amenities for residents, families, and visitors. The project supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and marks the start of a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area, furthering the expansion of the emirate.

Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, remarked, “Partnering with Jan De Nul Dredging underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation. As Nakheel accelerates its development efforts under Dubai Holding, Jan De Nul Dredging’s expertise in marine, civil construction, and environmental projects is essential to advancing this transformative development.”

Global Destination

Aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, Palm Jebel Ali is poised to become a premier global destination, offering a luxurious waterfront lifestyle with expansive beaches and pristine waters. The development aims to set new benchmarks in quality living and sustainability.

In the previous year, Palm Jebel Ali introduced over 700 units of Phase 1 frond villas, featuring eight distinct styles that integrate indoor and outdoor living in a tranquil coastal environment. The progress on infrastructure and marine works is integral to the timely delivery of these homes, scheduled for handover in late 2026, and advances Palm Jebel Ali’s vision as a prominent residential and leisure hub.

The island will ultimately span 13.4 kilometers, featuring 16 fronds and 91 kilometers of beachfront, in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan’s objective of expanding public beach access.
