Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: UK Fire Safety Expert Neil Odin to Present Strategies for Effective Post-Incident Fire Management at Fire Protection and Technology Summit
Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing construction sector, with over 5,200 active projects valued at more than $819 billion, highlights the critical need for advanced fire safety measures. This burgeoning landscape underscores the importance of comprehensive fire safety strategies, particularly in high-profile developments.
The sixth edition of Intersec Saudi Arabia will take place from October 1-3 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC). As part of this major event, the Fire Protection and Technology Summit will feature a key panel discussion led by Neil Odin, Chief Fire Officer of the UK National Fire Chiefs Council. With over 30 years of experience, Odin will offer invaluable insights into effective post-incident fire management strategies during his session titled “Crisis to Recovery.”
Odin’s discussion will focus on the essential phases following a fire, offering best practices and innovative approaches to recovery and restoration. The session will emphasize the need for a cohesive response strategy, integrating fire-safe design with robust prevention measures. “A response strategy cannot stand alone; it must be intricately linked with fire-safe building designs and comprehensive prevention strategies,” Odin remarked.
Joining Odin on the panel will be Jamal Al Ghamdi, Corporate Process Safety Director at Sadara Chemical Company. Together, they will address how the Middle East, and Saudi Arabia in particular, can lead globally in fire management by prioritizing risk reduction in new developments.
Other key sessions on the summit’s opening day will cover topics such as educating and empowering communities, fire safety for electric vehicles, and lessons learned from past disasters. The second day will delve into subjects including the integration of IoT and AI in fire safety systems, the role of robotics in firefighting, and challenges posed by climate change.
Riham Sedik, Show Manager at Intersec Saudi Arabia, emphasized the event’s significance: “Intersec Saudi Arabia plays a vital role in uniting leading experts to discuss critical challenges and advancements in fire safety.” The event’s comprehensive agenda reinforces its status as a pivotal gathering for industry professionals.
In addition to the Fire Protection and Technology Summit, the Future Security and Safety Summit will address innovations and global expertise in security, making this a must-attend event. Both summits are part of Intersec Saudi Arabia’s CPD-certified conference program.
This year’s exhibition has experienced unprecedented demand, leading to a 34% increase in size compared to 2023, now covering 23,000 sqm across five halls and an outdoor space. Intersec Saudi Arabia, organized by 1st Arabia and licensed by Messe Frankfurt, will take place from October 1-3, in collaboration with The High Commission for Industrial Security and The General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense.
